Sarawak International Library Conference 2007
Libraries and Sustainable Development: Perspectives on the
Future
Focus: Sustainable development in libraries

The Malaysian Librarian Association will be hosting Sarawak
International Library Conference 2007 (SILC 2007),
12-14 July 2007, at The Crowne Plaza Kuching, Malaysia. The
theme of the conference is Libraries and Sustainable Development:
perspectives on the future and the main objectives of the
conference are to support IFLAs statement on Libraries and
Sustainable Development [IFLA Glasgow 2002], to give new insights
on libraries and sustainable development and to enhance the
roles of libraries in sustainable development initiatives.
It will present recent research and technology concerning
the sustainability development in the library and information
resources, bringing together experts from all libraries and
information centres for an exchange of ideas and discussion
on future challenges. The program includes a keynote presentation,
conference proceedings, demonstrations and workshops.
This conference hopes to attract 200 participants and we
are expecting librarians and information professionals from
all over the region mainly from South East Asia. We are certain
that these events will provide great networking opportunity
for all librarians, information professionals and the library
vendors.
